{"id":4059,"date":"2022-12-20T08:37:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T04:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mcmmediahub.aus.edu\/?p=4059"},"modified":"2026-05-11T13:30:04","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T09:30:04","slug":"new-desert-pop-up-cafes-open-in-al-faya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcmediahub.aus.edu\/index.php\/2022\/12\/20\/new-desert-pop-up-cafes-open-in-al-faya\/","title":{"rendered":"New Desert Pop-up Caf\u00e9s open in Al Faya"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1RF9xzAEwfwK4kZ4JL8M-TDWj_-JvsBW_\/preview\" width=\"720\" height=\"394\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>By Zahra Rashid<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sharjah, UAE \u2013 Two new pop-up caf\u00e9s opened in Al Faya Desert in Sharjah this winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Few Caf\u00e9 and The Uncommon caf\u00e9s are the latest addition to three other pop-up shops that have opened in deserts across the United Arab Emirates.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ntale Deusdedit, who started working at Few Caf\u00e9 when it opened in November, said he thinks this is because \u201cthe temperatures become very low so the atmosphere is good [in the desert] for camping out and enjoying warm drinks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deusdedit, pointing to the fire pit with the warm bonfire burning at the front of Few Caf\u00e9, said \u201cas you can see here, we have a camp fire for this reason.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with the bonfire, the pop-up also has colorful tables, chairs and bean bags for customers to dine and socialize.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have people from all nationalities coming to our caf\u00e9 and we love to speak to them and create a fun community out here in the desert,\u201d said Deusdedit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few minutes away stands another new caf\u00e9 called The Uncommon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast to Few, this pop-up has a more modern design with a large mirror situated on the side for customers to take pictures in the reflection.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Batool Bano, who visited the caf\u00e9 with her husband, said she loved the idea and took such beautiful pictures \u201cbecause the mirror reflects the whole desert and the mountains in the background.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She compared this caf\u00e9 to Not A Space, a desert pop-up caf\u00e9 in the same area that has been operating for three years, every winter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The caf\u00e9 is known for its futuristic theme, attempting to replicate the surface of Mars.
