UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 About 2000 American University of Sharjah students and their guests visited the March 10 and 11 Global Day celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While it was the first Global Day back on campus after the pandemic, it was also the first ever Global Day for many students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Club members performed traditional dances and sang cultural songs on stage in front of the main building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe second I walked in, there was already music blasting,\u201d said Zulaikha Mohamad, a Computer Engineering major, dressed in traditional Nigerian wear. She added, \u201cThe DJ did a great job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Global Day was organized by the Office of Student Affairs and a team of AUS students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked what his job was, Mass Communication student Hasan Zoghbor said that he was a \u201crunner with a trolley,\u201d which meant moving things around and helping clubs with anything they might need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zoghbor added, \u201cIt was a very fun experience, and I met new people. I would do this job again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Global Day was also a first-time experience for some board members of the cultural clubs. President of the Iranian Club, Artemiz Zadeh, said, \u201cIt was my first experience in Global Day, it was really nice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, some club members who had celebrated Global Day before said they wanted to plan something that exceeded expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Egyptian Club\u2019s Activities Coordinator Antwan Nabih wanted to create an escape room of an ancient Egyptian mystery. The theme was \u201cPharoah\u2019s Curse.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nabih spent two days planning it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI like how people react when they find something, when they find a clue, [and] when they solve it.
