UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 Deliveries on campus of food, clothes, and other items have risen due to an increase in dorm residents in spring 2022 at the American University of Sharjah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere are more orders this semester as there are more people on campus,\u201d said Mohammad Ashraf, a Talabat deliveryman. \u201cWe try our best to ensure covid protocols by wearing masks all the time. I used to deliver food here last semester too, but now we come more frequently.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUsually students order food between 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. This is the time when we get maximum orders,\u201d added Ashraf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reem Mugharbel, an AUS student, said she orders a little bit of everything all the time spending about AED 200 dirhams a week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI order everything from food to clothes, sometimes even flowers for my friends on special occasions,\u201d added Mugharbel. \u201cThis semester I\u2019ve ordered a couple of times a week. It\u2019s mainly food via Talabat and clothes from ASOS and Urban Outfitters.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Resident assistants in dorms also agree that the amount of delivery orders have increased this semester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey typically order groceries as most don\u2019t have a car and the minimart is limited,\u201d said Resident Assistant Dana Maalouf. \u201cAlso, [students order] a lot of decorations for their dorms and a ton of clothes, but mostly it\u2019s food and groceries.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
