UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 The American University of Sharjah reported a steady decline in COVID-19 cases from 125 in the first week of face-to-face classes to 29 in the third week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to University Health Services\u2019 emails to the AUS community, from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, the university reported 18 on-campus and 107 off-campus COVID-19 cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the second week starting from Feb. 4 to Feb. 10, there were nine cases on campus and 31 off-campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the third week from Feb. 11 to Feb. 17, the number of positive cases dropped to 29 with nine on-campus and 20 off-campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The emails added that buildings accessed by positive persons were sanitized according to Ministry of Health and Prevention protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe number of positive cases is not constant, but we are seeing a downward trend,\u201d said Dr. Lubna Al Saraj, the director of the UHS, in an interview on Feb. 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFortunately, we did not report any serious cases on campus,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the United Arab Emirates\u2019 Ministry of Education guidelines, to access the campus, students and faculty must maintain a green status on the Al Hosn application. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
