UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 The American University of Sharjah Carnival has been renamed \u201cAUS Monopoly\u201d specifically for the inclusion of interest-oriented clubs and academic associations, said Student Activities Coordinator Maha Jibril in an interview on Monday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe already have Global Day which is only for cultural clubs so we needed this [AUS Monopoly] for the other clubs,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rahma Ali, president of the Photography Club, said she thinks this is a good idea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInterest-oriented clubs are just there for the Club Fair and events barely focus on them,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jibril said the event will run for two days, Feb. 23 and 24, between 5 to 10 p.m. at the football fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe event will have a Monopoly theme,\u201d Jibril said, explaining that there will be 13 tents with three clubs in each, collaborating to set up games and activities for the students. She highlighted that there will also be food trucks, music, stage performances and a raffle draw at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe received instructions from the Sharjah Private Education Authority and the AUS Safety Department to be able to hold in-person events on campus this semester,\u201d Jibril said. In accordance with the COVID-19 protocols, she stated that there will be an entrance booth at the event that will check for a green status on the Al-Hosn application and masks will be required at all times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
AUS student and Industrial Engineering major Mahmoud Amr said \u201cI can\u2019t wait for it and I think it will be a good opportunity to finally get things back to normal. Events like this is how I met most of my friends in freshman year.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
