The Investments Club, a newly revived student organization, made its debut at the American University of Sharjah’s annual Club Fair, aiming to establish itself as a recognized name on campus.
President Ahmed Abu-Waar said, “We’re trying to leave our mark,” describing activities including trivia games and cup pong. There was also a life-size cutout of the rapper Drake to draw students in.
Treasurer Rakan Khayzoran said the club recruits high-achieving students from all majors, not just business administration. Khayzoran said the booth drew more interest than he expected.
“It’s gotten really overcrowded, which is nice,” he said.
PR Coordinator Ahmed Sied Ahmed, a mechanical engineering student, said, “The club doesn’t have to be constricted to just finance students. Anyone can join.”
The club plans to host AUS alumnus Karim Hijazi on Thursday, Sept. 17, for a talk on life after graduation. The club’s organizers also plan to bring in professionals from risk management and wealth management firms to help students land internships.
Abu-Waar said the goal is to become a club “recognized everywhere, where people look to apply and hope to join.”
